The Fox speaks:

“I bring you the flowing dexterity of the fleet of foot and the metal acuity of the fleet of mind. Cleverness and trickery blossom in my footsteps. I can thread the path between here and there, between one state and another. I thrive in the twilight time between times, and I am out to survive. I do not meet my adversaries face-on, I circle to the sides. I am the oblique, the surprising, the sudden shifting at the edge of darkness.

Interpretation Advice:

The fox card is one of subtle deception and easy manipulation. The fox knows the ins and outs of the situation and has the advantage over others even though they may appear stronger or more formidable. The fox is the fast talking, problem solving, deal making, deal breaking herald of cunning and subterfuge. Of two worlds, the fox is comfortable in both and can help us traverse difficult paths and negotiate troublesome and even dangerous situations. Take heed if you face a fox as an opponent, because they let the end justify the means. The Fox’s motto “Skill surpasses strength,” is a reminder that brute force isn’t always the solution.

A deeper look into the image’s symbolism:

  • Geese – both the silly crowd that can be overcome with cleverness and the prosperity that can be had as the results of clever maneuvering

  • City and Forest – comfort in two different worlds and the ability to transition between them at will
